The home of the 145.35(-) & 444.45(+) repeaters.
These pictures were taken on March 27, 1999, when Rubens, PT2RFL/W4 went up to the 1400' platform of the WFOX tower. His mission was to prepare for the upcoming installation of a GE Master II repeater which will replace the Maggiorie shown in these photos. The above picture does not convey how truly massive this structure is. The top is more than 1600' from the ground. Our repeaters are at a platform around 1400' that is reached by an elevator. This elevator can be seen in the lower right of the picture above. The elevator takes about twenty minutes to reach the 1400' platform and is big enough to fit two men and a little radio equipment. Once at the top, Rubens says he didn't take any photos looking out at the horizon because it was such a hazy day. Maybe it was because he was rattled....;-) Rubens took all these pictures, click here and tell him what you think!
A short time later, 145.35 is in the cabinet. |
