Pictures of the fun-tastic

'01 Atlanta Hamfest

June 2, 2001

Thanks to John, KE4ENI; and Dick, K2UFT for taking photos!  John is shown taking a picture of Lee, AF4IA.  No one caught Dick in the act, but this side-by-side sequence is pretty neat!

For more fine pictures see John's site at http://www.homestead.com/ke4eni/atlhamfest.html

Many thanks to all known and unknown who played their part to make this event a huge success!

A couple of photos from Steve Hobbie, KG4MVC

A full exhibit hall!

Below are K2UFT's snapshots of us having fun

K4WK arranges traffic cones at entrance to Jim Miller Park. All on duty at 6 AM agreed that the pea soup fog was preferable to the foot of rain we had the previous week.

N0ZA arrives with a load of Rohn 45G which hopefully he won't have to haul back home.

Boneyard scene - K1FF checks out the case for an S-38-C - wonder what happened to the rest of the
radio? Kiyoshi, K4ST, checks out other bargains at another table.

Confirmation that hamfests are as much about social gatherings as sales events.

They were starting to line up at 8:30 even though the official show start wasn't until 9 AM.

W4RH (ARRL Director) and K4VT (vendor) discuss important affairs of the Southeastern Division while KS5M (left) and K1FF eavesdrop. W4RH didn't buy the oscilloscope.

A feast for the Hamfest Directors eyes - a full, lively crowd in the boneyard.

What would an Atlanta Hamfest be without the guys from the Candy Store, otherwise known nationally
as HRO.

Section Manager W4RU holds court at the ARRL booth.

Rick, K4RAB holds down talkin while a elbow to elbow crowd gathers around the prize barrel.

Hamfest featured plenty of room for inside sales. The ever-present Wireman vends its wares in the
rear of the picture.

Horse Show ring, site of the South East Contest Club annual meeting and alternate flea market space
in the even of rain.

K9AY presides at the South East Contest Club annual meeting. Left to right: W4OC, K4EA, KB4HZ,
K9AY, NJ8J. Discussion centered around the club's nomination procedure for the upcoming WRTC games in Finland in 2002. SECC was one of 13 clubs requested to nominate amateur radio contesters for the games.

Atlanta Radio Club President K4PE introduces Gary, K9AY, who presented a forum on portable
antennas. Gary was a busy guy during the hamfest.

Chris, KF4YDF performs lone sentinel duty at the entrance/exit gate towards the end of the hamfest.   Our younger members were very helpful in providing communications during the hamfest!!
